Tapestry and Cross Stitch Blocking Service
As most experienced stitchers know, when you come to the end of a project, a fabric that started off perfectly square has become distorted, often “skewed” diagonally. The use of frames can help reduce this distortion, but may not completely eliminate the need for “blocking”.
Blocking usually entails pinning the fabric to a hard surface such as dense corkboard, stretching and pulling it back into shape in the process. A light coating with water from a spray bottle will help the process and help the canvas retain its corrected shape.
It’s not too difficult a process, but some people may find it tricky, or may not have the correct materials available to them. This is why Lucy Winter now offers a blocking service. Send us your finished canvas, and we’ll block and stretch it for you, and return it to you in its correct shape.
The cost for this service is from £10 per canvas depending on the level of distrotion, plus postage within the UK. For further details and for postage costs outside the UK, please contact us.

Many of the tapestry kits we supply are suitable for making up into cushions, and some even come complete with backing material and filling. Lucy Winter also offers a making up service for completed tapestry and cross stitch canvases, where we’ll turn your canvas into a completed cushion. You can send your own backing fabric, or we can supply it for you. We can even add piping to the edges if required! Contact us for more details and a quotation for your specific project.
